Why opt for a modular hospital?

Modular technology is becoming increasingly popular. This is due to a number of factors, including the speed of implementation, the reduction of nuisance associated with works on site. In addition, the buildings meet high utility standards as well as sanitary and health and safety standards.

Why opt for a modular hospital?
Construction and operation of prefabricated buildings - some practical information

As prefabricated medical facilities are not yet as widespread in Poland as in Western countries, many people have doubts about such solutions. However, most contractors take a comprehensive approach to the commissioned work - they prepare the design, deal with the production and installation of the prefabricated elements. Support in obtaining a building permit is also a common practice, but these are matters that are agreed upon at the contract construction stage.

Once the design has been approved, the module manufacturing process begins. Ninety per cent of the activities involved in their creation take place in the production hall. The finished parts are brought to site by truck and then joined together using a crane.

Work in the factory and on the construction site is carried out in parallel, enabling the facility to be put into use quickly. As the professionals at Climatic emphasise, modular facilities can be ready within a few or several weeks of placing an order (depending on the size of the project).
What are the differences in the use of the facility?

In terms of functionality, modular buildings are no different from traditional buildings. They have heating, plumbing and electrical installations. They are equipped with modern ventilation systems and have an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

The costs are comparable with classic solutions. The amounts depend, among other things, on the size of the building. Most of the work takes place in a closed workshop, but the contractor is in close contact with the investor regarding the individual stages.
Modular buildings versus traditional construction

Prefabricated hospitals or clinics are an excellent alternative to classic solutions. Their advantages include
No nuisance associated with site work

Work on the project site takes up to a few days and is limited to the installation of the finished parts only. Users of the facility are therefore not exposed to noise or excessive clutter, which is particularly important when expanding an already functioning medical facility.

Adaptation to current legislation

Buildings created with modular technology comply with the general space, installation, sanitary requirements. Meanwhile, according to the NIK report, public hospitals often fail to meet the criteria contained in regulations and laws. Thus, by opting for modular solutions, investors gain certainty that specialised buildings are safe to use and comply with current regulations.

Easy and quick expansion

Facilities can be extended or redeveloped at any time

. The modules are characterised by a weight reduction of up to 50 per cent (compared to a section of a building of the same area in traditional technology), which places minimal strain on the building structure.

Operational savings

The solutions are characterised by low running costs resulting from the use of very good insulation. Also noteworthy is the absence of thermal bridges. - This reduces heating charges by up to 60%, the specialists explain.

Advanced technologies

In the buildings erected by Climatic, it is also possible to integrate operating theatres. This is all thanks to the ZEUS system, which allows, among other things:
- control of medical apparatus,

- communication with dedicated IT platforms (HIS, RIS/PACS),

- monitoring the parameters of medical gas installations and IT systems.
Opt for modular technology

Although prefabricated hospitals or clinics are not as popular in Poland as they are in the West, this trend is gradually changing. As noted by specialists from the Warsaw University of Technology - Grzegorz Adamczewski, PhD, and Aleksander Nicał, M.Sc. - the use of prefabrication in the construction industry in a given country demonstrates a high degree of technological advancement and allows it to fit in with the direction set by the assumptions of sustainable development in the construction industry.
