Polish engineers fighting the virus – interview with Aleksander Panek, president of the board of Climatic.

The Polish company is able to quickly implement an innovative, modular hospital in which people infected with SARS-COV-2 can be treated. The first such facility is being built in BolesławiecThe innovation of modular technology explained in an interview, by Aleksander Panek, President of the Management Board of Climatic.

Can polish engineering solution ensure the safety of medical personnel and patients in the pandemic?

Aleksander Panek: Modular hospitals are facilities that save human life and health. We called the buildings placed in front of the entrances to stationary hospitals a COVID FIREWALL. In the way they operate, they resemble anti-virus software that protects servers against infection. This technology kills bacteria and transports the fumes outside, minimizing any risk of contamination. The devices we use have been successfully tested in the USA. They have proven effectiveness in the fight against SARS COV-2. This solution gives medical staff and patients not only safety, it provides comfort related to sterility typical of operating theaters at every stage of contact with the patient. Starting with the emergency room. This is the only solution to problems with quarantine and sick leave of health care workers, the availability of whom is today a key element in the fight against the pandemic. The technology was consulted with the management of infectious hospitals to improve the procedures necessary to qualify patients for admission to hospital departments. It is designed to organize planned admissions and to admit patients in an emergency mode at the same time. Covid-19 is not the only health problem people have. They must have hassle-free access to services and medical care. They cannot be afraid of the hospital.

What is the technology mentioned by you?

Simply put, it provides immaculate cleanliness to people, buildings and the entire infrastructure located there. The so-called decontamination is a process of cleaning, high level of disinfection and sterilization. It consists of decontamination, removal and inactivation of a harmful substance that is hazardous to health or life through direct contact or through exhaled air. The ventilation with recuperation used by us not only ensures the replacement of polluted air with fresh air necessary for breathing but also the proper and safe operation of devices. It destroys microorganisms through the use of a cascade system of active air flow.

Is Polish engineering solution also popular in Europe due to the pandemic?

Not a day goes by without us being asked about the possibility of express delivery of covid hospitals throughout Europe. We are already conducting advanced talks on the delivery of our buildings to France and Germany. The coronavirus pandemic has shown that in many places around the world the traditional health care system has proved to be ineffective. In order to provide patients with proper care, we started to use structures made of ready elements. This allows you to create additional space for hospitalization in a short time.

Hospitals are being established all over Poland to solve the problem of the possible lack of covid beds. Your company was the first to start building a hospital for patients infected with the SARS COV-2 virus. What stage is this project at and will it solve the problem of the overcrowded hospital in Bolesławiec?

In November, we will put new space into useIn a one-story building with an area of over 1,200 sq m. there will be a ward for nearly 60 COVID-19 patients with the possibility of using 26 ventilators. It will be made in accordance with the standards of German hospitals, and the division into two wings will enable the classification of patients in terms of health status and intensity of symptoms. What’s more, a separate building for patients diagnosed with coronavirus will avoid a situation in which the entire district hospital in Bolesławiec could again be closed to other patients. It will also allow to fully unblock the pediatric, neurological, internal medicine and infectious diseases wards. After the pandemic is over, our procedures will allow this building to be converted into a palliative care unit. It is a well-thought-out investment.

How long does it take to build a hospital in this technology?

Mobile medical structures are being built at a rapid pace. They include admission rooms, isolation rooms, patient rooms, treatment rooms, operating theaters and intensive care rooms. Delivery, assembly and commissioning can be carried out within one day. In just a few months, we are able to build a hospital that can admit nearly five hundred patients. This is as much as the field hospital organized at the National Stadium in Warsaw is supposed to admit.
